Girl Time in Colorado

Natalie seemed to be having quite a few meltdowns (averaging 3 a day) while we were in Colorado, so John suggested that I spend some individual time with her. This is usually a great fix when it comes to her less-than-desirable behavior. She thrives on the one-on-one attention and loves to have our own girl time.
After swimming, Mary and Vanda took the boys back to the condo and Natalie and I stayed downtown to search for some of the decorated Labradors. (A fundraiser sponsored by the Humane Society in Steamboat.) Since we had just finished swimming, I did not have anything but my camera. I have found that it is important to warn her early on, "Natalie, I do not have my wallet, purse or money. I cannot buy anything. We are having girl time without purchasing anything, OK? OK." I only had to say it 9 more times, but at least she didn't melt down about it. She showed me plenty of things that she would like for her birthday. Good for me there are only 5 months to remember exactly what she wanted...
