Salado, Texas

I have never heard of Salado, Texas until this weekend. We went there for a Girls' Weekend (birthday celebration) and stayed at a bed and breakfast, the Rose Mansion. Our gaggle of girls occupied the whole main house. And it's a good thing that there were not any other visitors staying within 100 feet of our festivities, we had some volume at times...

Little known facts about Salado, Texas:

  • They have the Silver Spur Theatre, that is staffed with local, professional actors.

  • You can get tickets quite easily at the Silver Spur Theatre. There were 21 people in the audience of the Friday night performance that we attended.

  • The shopping is plentiful, but you had better be done by 5:30, because that is when most of the shops close up.

  • Restaurants are done serving by 8 pm.

  • According to a local, they roll up the sidewalks at 8:30 p.m. each night.

  • Do not drink a lot of water, tea or any other liquid while you are shopping in Salado. There is only 1 public restroom on Main street. Every shop closely guards their restrooms and will not allow public access, as if...

  • There are a lot of old-tyme cars in Salado.

  • Salado is a nice place to go for a run.

  • Coffee shops are a hard-to-find thing in Salado.

  • There are a lot of photo op locations to take pictures of gnomes in Salado, Texas.

We had such a great time in Salado, I would recommend it for anyone who wants to go somewhere, celebrate, have fun and get away from the everyday!
